Facts: The Galia melon is a cross between a honeydew and cantaloupe melon. It has a spicy sweet taste and is very juicy, and has a lightly netted golden yellow rind. It is more closely related to the cucumber than the watermelon!
Storage: Use as soon as possible, but if refrigerating store in an airtight container as the melon can permeate other foods due to its strong odour.
Preparation and cooking: Wash the skin before use, then cut in half and remove the seeds. Use in breakfasts, fruit salads, with ginger, seafood, mint and soft cheeses.
