Facts: Originating from the West Indies, Pink Grapefruits were a cross between a pomelo and an orange. Pomelo fruits were borne in clusters, which led to the name "grapefruit". However, in the mid-1700's, grapefruits were given the name "Forbidden Fruit" - sounds scary! Pink Grapefruits are very low in cholesterol, saturated fats and sodium. The oil from the grapefruit peel is used in aromatherapy and is loved for its aroma.
Storage: Store at room temperature for about a week.
Preparation and cooking: Cut in half and eat from the skin, or use segments in salads, desserts and cooking.
