Country of origin: South Africa Weight: Each
Facts: A member of the rose family, peaches, (or nectarines with added fuzz), were once known as Persian Apples. The term "you're a real peach" originates from the tradition of giving a peach to a friend you like. In China, the peach is a symbol of longevity and good luck. Peaches can have yellow or white flesh, and are deliciously juicy. Be careful handling them though - they do bruise easily.
Storage: In a cool place, or the fridge.
Preparation and cooking: Rinse before use. Eat straight out of the hand, or if using in cooking, blanch in boiling water for a minute then plunge into icy water to remove the skin easily. Use in savoury or sweet dishes, and fruit salads of course.
