Country of origin: Italy Weight: Each
Facts: Contrary to popular belief, kiwi fruits did not originate in New Zealand! They were originally grown in China, where they were thought of as a delicacy by the court of the great Khans. Kiwi Fruits can also be known as the Chinese Gooseberry. It is thought that their name derives from New Zealand's national bird, the Kiwi, whose fuzzy brown exterior resembles the skin of a kiwi fruit.
Storage: Very firm kiwi fruits can be kept in the fridge for up to 6 months. Once removed and kept at room temperature, they will ripen. Once the kiwi has started to ripen it can't be kept in the fridge for as long.
Preparation and cooking: Rinse before use. Kiwi Fruits can be peeled, although we don't bother. They can be used raw, in desserts and fruit salads.
