Facts: Oregano, meaning "mountain joy" in Greek, has leaves which have a characteristic warm, aromatic, slightly bitter taste. It is a proven super "functional food" and is one of the foundation basis of a healthy mediterranean diet and has an excellent nutritional content. It is particularly used in Greek and Italian dishes.
Storage: Best kept in the fridge wrapped in a slightly damp paper towel.
Preparation and cooking: Rinse before use. Oregano is used in pizzas, chichen, fish and meat dishes and is used in soups. omelettes, sauces and pickling. Fresh oregano can also be chopped and used in a green salad.
